Activision has laid off some of its employees from its Minneapolis, Minnesota branch following its quarterly earnings call.
Call of Duty Black Ops III—performed really well, but its games for “casual audiences,” namely, Guitar Hero and Skylanders, disappointed.
An Activision spokesperson told Game Informer the layoffs are part of its “refocusing” efforts, “to better align with Activision’s long-term priorities.
“Its strategy, the spokesperson said, continues to change in order to stay “ahead of a rapidly-changing industry.”
Though Activision has not confirmed how many have been laid off, the spokesperson said that the company is “working with those impacted by the changes to offer outplacement services and support.”
Earlier this year, Activision Blizzard acquired Major League Gaming, with the goal of becoming “the ESPN of eSports.”
