Wii U sales in the United Kingdom jumped by more than 685 percent last week, a Nintendo representative told trade site MCV today. Specific unit sales were not provided, nor was data for other regions, like North America.
A Nintendo of America representative was not immediately available to comment.
The rise in Wii U sales followed the October 4 launch of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD in the UK, which came in at the No. 4 position in the region’s all-formats sales chart. Earlier this week, Nintendo announced three all-new Wii U bundles for the UK, set to go on sale in time for the holiday shopping season.
The Wii U has struggled worldwide, selling 3.61 million units officially to date, below internal expectations for the system. Nintendo is expected to provide an update on the platform when the company reports earnings for its second quarter on October 30.
